Aubrey Brown: Epilepsy is common; you are not alone
Reporter: Heidi Splete Videographer: Patrick Frank
Aubrey Brown had a tonic/clonic seizure at age 12. At the hospital, she was told it was a “one and done” experience, but 2 weeks later she was back in the hospital with another tonic/clonic seizure. After a lengthy EEG evaluation and multiple consults, Aubrey was diagnosed with cortical dysplasia in her frontal lobe. Now seizure free for 4 years, she is headed for college. Initially, Aubrey kept her diagnosis a secret from most people, but she now shares her story and wants others to know that 1 in 26 people will have a seizure in their lifetime.
